Installation and Advice Guide for Sheds
GUIDE TO INSTALLING YOUR SHED
Installation – It is recommended that two people are available to assemble the shed, as it is much easier to have one person to help lift, position and hold components in place whilst the other fastens the screws etc.,.

Bases – It is essential that the base area be correctly prepared for your shed. This needs to be firm, level and square to ensure the stability of your shed. Timber bearers, paving slabs or a concrete pad are all suitable mediums.

INSTALLATION
- Centre the shed floor on top of your chosen base.
- Start with the shed’s back panel, lift into place – use a timber prop or a helper to hold it upright.
- Lift a side panel onto the shed floor.
- Screw the back and side panel together – Don’t try and fix your shed frame to the floor just yet – make sure the panels are square , aligned and fitted together first.
- Fit the other side panel in the same way.
- Fit the final panel housing the door. Doors and locks may need adjusting depending on how level the base is.
- Lift the roof panel/panels into position, ensuring everything is level and aligned. Secure the roof panels to the shed.
- Check that the shed is square on the shed floor before finally screwing the sides and ends to the floor.
- A small silicone bead around seams etc., will help prevent water progression.
- Once the roof is fitted secure each corner trim of the shed to complete.

FELTING YOUR SHED
- Shed felt should be unrolled onto a clean flat surface at least 30 minutes prior to installation as this assists with the final installation. Do not use lawn surfaces, as this can cause temporary yellowing of the grass.
- The pieces of felt should run the full length of the shed with overhang at each end. Place the first strip at the lowest part of the roof so that it overhangs the roof approx. 50mm
- Fix in position by nailing the top edge of the felt with clout nails at no more than 500mm centres.
- Slowly and carefully fold overhangs over the edges of the roof, and nail at 50mm intervals. Corners should be folded and nailed to create a neat finish.
- Each subsequent sheet should be placed to achieve a minimum 75mm overlap with the previous sheet. If your shed has a pent roof, it is imperative that the overlap is greater. It is recommended to use a roofing felt adhesive to the area of the overlapping sheet to stop water progression (ensure to follow instructions on the product). Finish the joint by nailing at approx. 50mm intervals.
- Secure the roof fascia with nails/screws over the felt. The fascia plates may need trimming to suit.
- Finish the fascia by adding the diamond shaped wood finials to the apex of the shed roof.
- Secure each corner trim of the shed to complete.
Always make allowance for any roof overhang when buildings have to go into confined spaces.

SHED TREATMENT
- All timber used is pressure treated. Pressure treatment is protection against rot and infestation, it is not a water repellent. To preserve and extend the life of your shed we recommend it is treated immediately after installation with an appropriate preservative/water repellent and that this is repeated annually, or more frequently if the instructions on your chosen preservative state. Please read instructions on the treatment you purchase as they all carry applications advice.
Please remember that wood is an organic material with a natural moisture content and is prone to changes in appearance including shrinkage, warping and splitting particularly in extremes of temperature. These are natural timber properties they are not considered as defects and are beyond our control and responsibility.
